These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. </item44><item5></item5><item12>Edits Supreme Court draft opinions by reviewing opinion to verify facts, confirm validity of legal principles, ensure correct use of legal terminology, ensure logical and orderly flow of ideas, conform opinion to Court style, remove ambiguous or misleading material, and check for accuracy of legal citations, citation form, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; reviews suggested revisions with justices' staffs and master commissioners; prepares headnotes for Supreme Court opinions; proofreads galleys of opinions and proofreads Ohio Official Reports advance sheets to correct errors for bound volume; prepares and posts case announcements and Supreme Court, court of appeals, and Court of Claims opinions to the Court's website; coordinates the receipt of opinions from the Court of Claims and courts of appeals; trains and answers questions from judges and staff of those courts; responds to public inquiries about court cases and website; corrects errors in the opinions database; conducts legal and special research; assists Reporter of Decisions and other Reporter's Office staff. </item12><item14></item14><item6>Requires a law degree and four years of professional, legal, or technical work demonstrating superior skills in oral and written communication. A master's degree or two years of graduate study in English, journalism, or related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience. An Assistant Reporter shall at all times during employment with the Supreme Court be an attorney properly admitted to the practice of law and be in good standing with the appropriate admitting authority of any state or territory of the United States. Requires strong writing skills and the ability to construct complete and concise sentences using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently, and to use technical and legal language. Requires substantial skills in legal research, legal writing, editing, and proofreading. Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office products (word processing, e-mail) and the Internet and Westlaw or Lexis and other legal-research resources. Requires the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Requires the ability to effectively interact and communicate with supervisor, co-workers, justices, judges, other public officials and employees, attorneys, Court personnel, and the public.
