March 12, 2010 The Court agreed to consolidate LetOhioVote.org v. Brunner, State ex rel. New Models v. Brunner and State ex rel. Cummings v. Brunner. In addition, the Court issued three other motion and procedural rulings, dismissed one case, referred three cases to mediation, and returned one case to the regular docket from mediation. In State ex rel. Lucas Cty. Republican Party Executive Commt. v. Brunner, the Court denied relator’s request for an emergency other writ and emergency alternative writ and dismissed relator’s request for a writ of prohibition but granted an alternative writ of mandamus and set a briefing schedule. In State ex rel. Gaylor, Inc. v. Goodenow the Court denied relator’s request for an emergency stay and expedited alternative writ and dismissed relator’s request for a writ of prohibition, but granted an alternative writ of mandamus and imposed a stay preventing the respondents from enforcing their decisions disqualifying the relator’s bid and awarding a contested contract to an alternate contractor pending the Court’s resolution of the mandamus claim, and set a briefing schedule for the mandamus action. March 10, 2010 The Court issued two merit decisions with opinions, announced eight motion and procedural rulings, agreed to hear 13 cases, and declined to hear 70 cases. March 9, 2010 The Court denied a request by vexatious litigator Delores M. Karnofel for leave to continue or institute legal proceedings in the Supreme Court. In addition, the Court dismissed Karnofel v. Bernard because of a missed filing deadline. The Court also granted appellee’s motion in two cases to appoint the Office of the Ohio Public Defender as counsel. |
