Task Force on the Code of Judicial Conduct

The Supreme Court of Ohio has adopted a new Code of Judicial Conduct, effective March 1, 2009.  The 2009 Ohio Code supersedes and replaces the former Code of Judicial Conduct and governs the conduct of Ohio judges occurring on or after March 1, 2009. This Web page contains links to the 2009 Code and other resource materials.

Note:  On Jan. 13, 2009, the Supreme Court of Ohio revised the version of Rule 4.2 that previously was adopted and announced by the Court. The revised version of Rule 4.2 modifies division (C)(6) and Comment [2] and adds new divisions (B)(4) and (C)(7). Rule 4.2 will go into effect March 1, 2009, along with other provisions of the 2009 Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct. The document links on this page have been updated to include the revised version of Rule 4.2. The Court issued a news release regarding the revisions to Rule 4.2.
