Justice Maureen O'Connor of the Supreme Court of Ohio spoke Nov. 2, 2007 at the business development expo and luncheon of the city of Euclid and Euclid Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon, which was attended by approximately 150 community and business leaders, was held at the Euclid Public Library.
Justice O'Connor spoke on various issues that have come before the Supreme Court that affect Ohio businesses.
βIt was an honor to meet the distinguished community leaders and business leaders of Euclid at today's expo and luncheon,β Justice O'Connor said. βI appreciated the opportunity to talk with them about some of the Supreme Court's decisions that affect Ohio businesses.β
The Euclid Chamber of Commerce is an organization of businesses and professionals working together to support the economic growth of the city of Euclid. The chamber is dedicated to enhancing business opportunities, promoting economic development, advocating business interests and needs, and encouraging community betterment activities in Euclid through innovative programming. Both large and small businesses from every profession are represented in the chamber's membership.
Justice O'Connor was elected in 2002 as the 148th Justice on the Supreme Court of Ohio and the seventh woman to serve on the Court. She has experience as a practicing attorney, magistrate, common pleas judge, and prosecuting attorney. In 1998, she was elected as lieutenant governor and was the governor's chief advisor on criminal justice issues, serving as director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, and as chair of Ohio's Security Task Force and the State Building Security Review Committee.
