Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger of the Supreme Court of Ohio spoke Oct. 22, 2007 with students at St. John's Jesuit High School in Toledo who are studying American law. Justice Lanzinger talked about the Supreme Court of Ohio – Then and Now.
The Introduction to American Law class is composed of 23 seniors. Interested underclassmen also were invited to hear Justice Lanzinger speak. Students in the class have completed an advanced placement government course and are interested in the study of law as well as exploring potential law-related career opportunities.
Justice Lanzinger was elected in 2004 as the 150th Justice of the Supreme Court of Ohio and previously served on the 6th District Court of Appeals for Ohio, the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas and the Toledo Municipal Court. She was the second woman in the nation to receive a Master of Judicial Studies degree from the University of Nevada and the National Judicial College. As a former elementary and high school teacher, Justice Lanzinger recognizes the importance of speaking to students about the judiciary. She also teaches regularly at the National Judicial College and the University of Toledo College of Law.
