(Feb. 14, 2008)The Supreme Court of Ohio today suspended the law license of Columbus attorney John W. Vogel for two years, with the second year stayed on conditions, for multiple violations of state attorney discipline rules.

The Court adopted findings by the Board of Commissioners on Grievances & Discipline that, in two cases involving different judges, Vogel engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice, behaved in an undignified and disrespectful manner during courtroom proceedings, and made improper filings and false statements to the court that resulted in sanctions for contempt. In one case, after being jailed for contempt and offered an opportunity to purge that contempt, Vogel publicly accused the judge, who had made rulings unfavorable to him and his client, of “collusion” with prosecutors to force an innocent defendant to plead guilty to felony charges.
