Delaware County Resident Appointed Chair of Supreme Court Committee
Delaware County resident Janet Sunderman is the new chair of the Ohio Judicial Family Network Steering Committee, the Supreme Court of Ohio announced today. She replaces Susie E. Ingraham whose term is ending.
The 17-member committee identifies the needs and concerns of judicial families in Ohio and offers both educational opportunities and a supportive network to those families. The committee was founded in 2000 by Mary Moyer, wife of Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer, after her work with the Judicial Family Institute. The institute, which is affiliated with the Conference of Chief Justices, focuses on the challenges of public life for judicial families
“The network offers a great way to gain an understanding of what your spouse or parent is doing and support them in their judgeship,” said Sunderman, who is the wife of Delaware Municipal Court Judge David P. Sunderman. “I believe the programs offered help families to better understand the importance of being a judge and what it involves on a daily basis. You can be a big support to them by having that understanding.”
Judge Sunderman practiced law in Delaware County for 25 years prior to being elected judge in November 2001. Janet Sunderman is currently the office manager at the Delaware law firm Thomas & Company LPA.
Janet Sunderman has served on the Ohio Judicial Family Network since 2001 and was previously the committee's vice-chair and chair of the subcommittee on judicial family programs. She lives in Lewis Center with her husband. The couple has two grown children, Erin and Ryan.
