Justice O'Donnell Receives American ORT Jurisprudence Award

Justice Terrence O'DonnellJustice Terrence O'Donnell of the Supreme Court of Ohio was honored Wednesday with an American Occupational Rehabilitation Training (ORT) Jurisprudence Award at an awards dinner held by the organization's Cleveland Chapter.

Jurisprudence Division Chairman Carl Grassi and Michael Perlmuter, president of the Cleveland Chapter of American ORT, presented Justice O'Donnell with the award in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession.

The award is presented annually to individuals whose personal and professional lives have substantially improved the quality of life for their fellow citizens, created role models for others to emulate and have established new directions for the enhancement of their profession and their community.

Also recognized at Wednesday's awards dinner was attorney Ernest P. Mansour, managing partner of Mansour, Gavin, Gerlack & Manos Co., L.P.A.

“This year's award recognizes attorney Ernest P. Mansour and Justice Terrence O'Donnell for their innovative and progressive leadership abilities both in the community and the bench and bar,” Perlmuter said. “They have risen to the heights of their profession locally and nationally, exhibiting a passion for the improvement of justice-related issues and services to the state and nation.”

“I am very honored to receive this award with Ernie Mansour, an outstanding attorney, and I am very grateful to the ORT for its very kind consideration of me,” Justice O'Donnell said.

Justice O'Donnell was appointed to the Court in May 2003 and was elected in 2004. He has been a member of the state judiciary for more than 25 years, and previously served as a judge on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and as a judge on the 8 th District Court of Appeals in Cuyahoga County.

American ORT, a member of ORT America , was founded in 1922. The nonprofit organization supports a global network of schools and training programs with more than 3 million graduates, and educates 270,000 students in 60 countries annually. In Cleveland, the ORT/J.E.C.C. Partnership for Technology in Education offers technical support and classroom technology planning to more than 3,500 students and six schools in Cleveland, Ohio.
