Chief Justice Denies Affidavits of Disqualification in Muskingum Watershed Case
Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer today denied requests by more than 1,100 individuals seeking to disqualify 18 judges from participating in cases pending in the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Court.
“I have carefully examined all the allegations in the affidavits, and I find no basis for ordering the disqualification of the eighteen judges on the conservancy court,” Moyer wrote in a judgment entry on the matter. “The affiants may disagree with the judges' earlier rulings in these cases, but a party's disagreement or dissatisfaction with a court's rulings of law, without more, does not demonstrate that the rulings are a result of bias or prejudice,” Moyer wrote, citing previous cases.
