Supreme Court Visitor Education Center Wins Ohio Museum Association Award
The Supreme Court of Ohio Visitor Education Center on Monday received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Institutional Excellence from the Ohio Museum Association for its exceptional contribution to the museum profession in Ohio.
The prize, known as the OMA Award, was presented at the association's convention in Canton. The Award for Institutional Excellence is given to an institution whose efforts help accomplish the museum's mission, utilize the museum's collection and go above and beyond the museum's everyday operations.
“The Visitor Education Center will enable countless Ohioans to learn about and gain a greater appreciation for the role of the courts in our constitutional democracy,” said Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer. “The Court appreciates the Ohio Museum Association recognizing the importance and quality of this facility.”
Opened in December 2005, the Visitor Education Center features an array of interactives, bold graphic displays and engaging videos that offer an inside look at the role of Ohio courts and illustrate important issues and rulings. The 4,442-square-foot center is located on the Ground Floor of the Ohio Judicial Center, 65 South Front Street. The center is free and open to the public. Group reservations can be made by calling 614.387.9223.
The Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm, located in Dayton, received an award for excellence as well.
