New Online Feature Allows Attorneys to Easily Report CLE Compliance to Supreme Court

Attorneys seeking to report their compliance with state Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements can now do so with the click of a button. The Supreme Court of Ohio Attorney Services Web site can accept the electronic submission of CLE transcripts, the Court announced today. This new feature is accessible by logging on to the Attorney Services Web site at www.supremecourtofohio.gov/.

Attorneys with last names starting with letters M through Z will receive their final CLE transcripts in the mail the week of Dec. 4 and have the option to access this new Web function throughout the compliance reporting period, which ends Jan. 31, 2007. The Court will offer this same reporting capability on its Web site during the next reporting period at the end of 2007 for attorneys whose last names start with letters A through L.

“This new Web feature will enhance the ability of Ohio lawyers to comply with their biennial CLE reporting requirements. It allows attorneys to review and submit their transcripts using any Internet connection,” said Rick Dove, director of the Supreme Court's Attorney Services division who worked with Robert Stuart, director of the Court's Office of Information Technology to implement the new feature.

This new feature also allows attorneys the limited ability to edit their transcript if an adjustment is needed to credit hours for a particular class or to add a class that has not yet appeared on the transcript. Attorneys utilizing the electronic reporting or those who make changes to their transcript will receive acknowledgement through e-mail that the submission has been accepted.

This latest service to be offered by the Supreme Court is in addition to features added just last year on the Attorney Services Web site, including the ability to review CLE transcripts online and print a copy, satisfy attorney registration requirements and pay registration fees. Attorneys also can update their personal information online, including postal and e-mail addresses and office phone numbers.
