2. What if I have registered for inactive status?

If you are registered for inactive status with the Attorney Registration Section you are exempt from NLT.

However, if you change your registration status to active prior to the end of the third calendar year following the calendar year of your admission, you will be required to complete an approved NLT program. The NLT program must be completed prior to the end of the calendar year following the calendar year of reinstatement of active status. You will also be required to file a report with the Commission verifying your compliance with NLT.

5. What is a New Lawyers Training Program?

The standard two-day NLT program is a single course of structured training consisting of at least 12 instructional hours, conducted on consecutive days.

NLT is designed specifically for newly-admitted attorneys. Attorneys must complete the entire program in order to receive credit for their attendance.

To be approved for NLT, the course must meet all the requirements of Gov. Bar R. X, Section 3(H)(2), and Regulation 414.
