Any experienced lawyer or judge who wishes to serve as a mentor must meet the minimum qualifications to mentor and submit a Mentor Application. If approved by the Commission on Professionalism, the lawyer or judge will be added to the Pre-Approved Mentor List.
One of three ways that a new lawyer can be matched to a mentor is by submitting three mentor nominations from the Pre-Approved Mentor List on his or her New Lawyer Application. The nominations will be reviewed and the final match will be determined by the Commission on Professionalism. Although the Commission will attempt to approve a mentoring match based on a new lawyer’s nominations, there is no guarantee that a match will be made between a new lawyer and the mentors nominated.
Upon passing the Ohio bar examination, every new lawyer will receive a password to access our Pre-Approved Mentor List.
