977 Applicants Pass July 2012 Bar Exam

The Ohio Supreme Court released the July 2012 Ohio Bar Examination results today. The exam was administered on July 24-26 in Columbus. Out of 1,209 applicants who sat for the exam, 977 (80.8 percent) received passing scores; out of 1,084 first-time test takers, 85 percent received passing scores.

The oath of office will be administered to successful applicants who have also satisfied all of the Ohio Supreme Court’s other requirements for admission. The oath will be administered during two special public sessions of the Ohio Supreme Court at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday, November 5, at The Ohio Theatre, 39 East State Street, Columbus.

The oath will be administered to eligible applicants from The Ohio State University, Capital University, University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky University at 10:30 a.m.  At 2:00 P.M., the oath of office will be administered to eligible applicants from Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University, University of Toledo, Ohio Northern University, University of Akron, and other out-of-state law schools.

Article IV, Section 2(B)(1)(g) of the Ohio Constitution grants the Ohio Supreme Court exclusive jurisdiction to regulate admission to the practice of law in Ohio. Among other duties, the Office of Bar Admissions oversees the admissions process for the Ohio Supreme Court.
